What the Project is All About
Mantsoe - Voices of Humanity South Africa is an inspiring journey through South Africa where we meet people along the way. Our approach is spontaneous and unplanned, relying on random encounters rather than scheduled interviews. This journey will take us from one end of the country to the other, capturing the diverse voices and stories that make up the rich tapestry of South African life.
We will have a little mobile film studio with us on route that we will set up for the interviews. In this setup, our interviewees will sit on a chair with a black background. This consistent setting ensures that when you watch the interviews, you see all of our participants in an identical setup, highlighting their humanity and creating a unified visual style.
We could meet a big Afrikaans Boer and then a young Zulu boy. Despite their different backgrounds, when we listen to their answers to our set of questions around family, happiness, and love, we might find that we are not so different after all.
Through these heartfelt stories, we aim to highlight our shared humanity and the common values that unite us all.

Key Elements
The Exhibition:
Mantsoe will be a series of exhibitions held in Cape Town. These exhibitions will be immersive experiences where visitors can engage with the project on multiple levels.
Photo Displays: A curated selection of portraits of the interviewees, each accompanied by a text excerpt from their interview.
Video Installations: Screens playing the video interviews, allowing visitors to hear the voices and stories directly from the participants.
Interactive Elements: Spaces where visitors can record their own stories or leave messages, fostering a sense of community and participation.
Merchandise: Prints of the photographs and other memorabilia available for purchase, with proceeds supporting a good cause.
